If you are booking a trip with your Capital One credit card, do this first:
Capital One offers credit card holders exclusive access to their Capital One “Offers” portal. I have earned thousands (if not tens of thousands) of miles by clicking through these links.
Many other cards and travel companies offer this kind of shopping portal as well (i.e. Delta, American, Chase). I highly recommend checking out to see if any of your credit card or travel loyalty programs offer shopping portals so you can take advantage of them.
However, this specific “Offers” portal is exclusive to Venture credit card holders. The “Offers” portal lets you earn extra rewards when shopping at participating merchants.
If you are making a big purchase or planning a trip, look to see if any of your credit cards or travel loyalty programs offer a shopping portal for extra points.
To find the “Offers'“ portal, log onto the Capital One app and scroll down until you see a section labeled “Activate shopping offers”. Then, click into the portal through the arrow. This step is the most important:
You must click through the link provided to you in this portal and book on the provided link. If you come back and open another window later, it will not work. You must either use the existing window or open up a new window through the portal once you are ready to book.
As an example, here are some ways you could earn extra points on vacation tours booked through the Capital One “Offers” portal:
Viator and Get Your Guide offer some great point redemption when booked through the portal. A $100 tour would now give you 900 miles.
Onto accommodation. If you aren’t taking advantage of a hotel credit card (or any other way to earn points), this is a way to earn some amazing points on accommodation. Here’s a few ways to earn more points:
Let’s take booking with Marriott for example. If you were booking a $1000, stay with your Venture X card, you would earn 7,000 points.
This is your normal 2x points back on the Venture X card PLUS an additional 5,000 points when booking through the portal. Being able to stack points makes these offers even more advantageous.
As you can see, these miles can very quickly add up to turn into real savings to help pay for your next adventure.
